Foreigners can invest in 2 types of real estate projects in Mauritius.
IRS & RES PROJECTS
The first one, the “Integrated Resort Scheme” (IRS) often a golf estate, requires a minimum investment of about USD 500,000. The person who buys a residence IRS automatically acquires a permanent resident status for himself, his spouse and dependents.
The second scheme, the ” Real Estate Scheme” (RES), introduced lately in 2007, allows clients with a lower budget to buy a property in Mauritius. RES residences are not subject to any minimum price. Price for an apartment can start from € 200,000. However, the purchase of an RES property will not automatically confer the status of Mauritian resident, unless your investment is at least USD 500,000.
